| Glenn Ayers is one of the Northwest’s renowned drummer and percussionist, has performed with top bands. Notable performers with whom he collaborated include Arturo Sandoval, Michael Spiro, Del Reeves, and The Seattle Symphony. He also has performed with some of the finest Latin bands. Glenn appears on albums by renowned northwest artists, as well as with Bochinche and several country music artists. Ayers has been a member of Bochinche’s educational program since 1988. He has performed numerous children shows and has conducted many workshops and residencies. Through Bochinche, he has been the subject of education-oriented reports on local and national television and radio. |
John L. Holmes began classical guitar instruction at the age of nine and gave his first recital at twelve. He attended Whitman College, San Francisco Art Institute and Pratt Art Institute in Brooklyn NY. He received a BFA from San Francisco Art Institute. While in San Francisco, he collaborated with Guitarist Takeshi Nakayoshi. This resulted in many recordings and performances in the bay area. After returning to Walla Walla, John began a collaboration with a poet, Larry Leier. With poetry and music they played Bumbershoot in Seattle, and recorded their group “13th Floor” as well as releasing a “45”. Holmes also has recorded CDs with “Non-Stop”, which were featured on NPR. He has spent much of his recent time recording his original compositions on the computer. |
Ron Roth played Bass in the successful Walla Walla group “THE BARONS”. In the 70’s he studied with Don Mock and Joe Villa. Jazz theory was taught by Peter Kok and Norman Durkee at the Cornish School of Allied Arts. Influenced by bassists Ron Carter, Ray Brown, Buster Williams, Eddie Gomez, Ron brings 40 years of experience as a guitarist, bassist, and percussion to the band. He formerly played with the world-renown drummer Peter O. DePoe of the gold record group “Redbone” and drummer Karl Peters of the celebrated group “Peace”. Ron was also instrumental in engineering the “World Tour” by the group “BOCHINCHE”. |
Wes Romine - Saxophonist for 30 years from Walla Walla to San Francisco Bay Area. He studied Jazz theory with Mark Levine at The Jazz School in Berkeley and studied privately with Jim Grantham. Wes received a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Oregon and is a registered architect in the states of California and Washington. Some of his musical inspirations include Johnny Griffin, Bill Evans, Dave Holland, Wayne Shorter, Miles Davis, Freddie Hubbard, and Herbie Lewis-whom Wes played with in the Bay Area |
